This is how the second division club reacts to the impending storm

There could be heavy thunderstorms with heavy rain in and around Stuttgart on Wednesday. VfB Stuttgart's match against SV Sandhausen could also be affected.

Stuttgart - Hailstones up to two centimetres thick, thunderstorms, storms and heavy rain: According to information from the German Weather Service (DWD), a severe storm is heading for Baden-Württemberg on Wednesday. People in Stuttgart and the surrounding region should also be prepared.

According to the meteorologists, the thunderstorm could be of such a magnitude that the organisers of major events might have to assess the risks. In isolated cases, "extremely heavy rainfall of more than 40 litres per square metre is possible," says Clemens Steiner of the DWD. The gusts could reach speeds of up to 80 kilometres per hour.

VfB Stuttgart's home match against SV Sandhausen this Wednesday (6.30 pm/liveticker) could also be affected by the severe storm. The Swabian second-division team, however, is prepared just in case. "The weather forecast is an issue at every game," a club spokesman told our editorial team when asked. "The situation is monitored regularly. A warning system has also been set up in the Mercedes-Benz Arena to warn of severe weather conditions."
